My very good friend Argentine restaurateur, Mariano Scorpaniti, is a big fan of good eating and gastronomy. Scorpaniti is a partner at 300 Cosmo Dining Room in Porto Alegre, one of Brazil’s most famous restaurants. When he lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he co-founded trendy dining destinations such as Tantra and Ásia de Cuba. He now resides in Porto Alegre with his family. Here is his list of Buenos Aires restaurants you cannot miss:
Parrilla La Dorita | This is a well known parrilla (or grill) with quality meats, a young atmosphere, and fair prices. There are several locations throughout the city, mostly in the trendy neighborhoods:
La Dorita Palermo Hollywood: Humboldt 1892, Buenos Aires
La Dorita Las Cañitas: Arce 901
La Dorita Recoleta: Avenida del Libertador 798
Morelia – Pizza a la Parrilla | A very interesting blend of two Argentine passions: pizza and parrilla. Created in 1997, it was the first restaurant to introduce the concept of grilled pizza (or flatbread cooked over a fire grill). The result is a thin, crispy and healthy alternative.
Morelia Palermo Hollywood: Humboldt 2005
Olsen | Olsen transports diners from Palermo Hollywood to Scandinavia with its seafood-heavy menu and an impressive selection of more than sixty vodkas. Dishes like blini, smoked herring, and red tuna are a large part of the restaurant’s allure, but so is the 60’s-inspired dining room set in a former warehouse.
Olsen Palermo Hollywood: Gorriti 5870
Lupita Mexican Bar | A charming Mexican Bar offering excellent drinks and everything mex including ceviches, tacos, enchiladas, salads, molcajetes, burritos and more:
Lupita Las Cañitas: Báez 227
Casa Cruz | One of the most exclusive restaurants in Buenos Aires, offering the perfect balance between elegance and relaxation. Argentine Urban Cuisine at its best by Chef German Martitegui.
Casa Cruz Palermo Viejo: Uriarte 1658
Isabel | One of the coolest bars in the city. A mix of mod funk and classics – with veneered 1940s style nightclub tables, lit from above by orange-glowing mushroom lights. Outside, the fireplace patio is a great place to smoke and chat. As owner Juan Santa Cruz states: “Bar Isabel is where people are going to have the most fun, the most beautiful place, the best music you can dance to, and anything goes.”
Elena Restaurant & Pony Line Lounge | Located within the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires, Pony Line Lounge is perfect place for drinks before dinner. The Lounge is inspired by casual chic polo lifestyle. Elena Restaurant is a perfect combination of luxury and passion, where you can feel at home with loved ones as the dishes are shared at the center of the table.
Four Seasons Hotel Recoleta: Posadas 1086
Osaka | A Nikkei restaurant (Peruvian + Japanese) is pure sophistication showcasing a mixof textures, colors and flavors.
Osaka Puerto Madero: Juana Manso 1164
